There are two basic types of Laser Doppler probes: for acute use and for chronic application. Continuous measurements can be taken in skin with surface probes; intra-operatively in organs with surface, straight or needle probes; and internally with endoscopic probes. The  monofiber probe can be used to measure perfusion with fibers inplanted in tissues of laboratory animals.
