Session description:
The presentation will discuss evaluation of non-invasive impedance system for respiratory assessment, using emkaPACK Jacketed Telemetry System.
Through standard external ECG leads both ECG and external respiratory impedance data will be compared against the proven RIP system using positive control agents.
Additionally, calibration stability will be evaluated over time through pre and post calibration checks.
Finally, the presentation will demonstrate methods of recovering data in the event of inaccurate pneumotach calibrations using scaling utilities within ecgAUTO.

Highlight the 3Rs of animal research through combined evaluation of safety pharmacology endpoints within a toxicology (noninvasive) setting.
Offer a novel method of ambulatory respiratory collection that is not reliant on band stability.
Illustrate methods to recover data and potentially mitigate repeat study (and use of animals) due to improper pneumotach calibrations.
Dr. Ken Kearney obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Ashland University in 2005.
In 2006, he began his career as a biologist at WIL Research in Ashland, OH. During his tenure within the cardiovascular pharmacology group, he has held roles of data analyst and project leader where he was responsible for qualitative and quantitative measurement of physiological signals. In 2010, he moved to the Study Director position.
Today, Dr. Kearney is the Director of Pharmacology and Discovery Services at Charles River Laboratories ASH (formerly WIL Research). He actively contributes to the Safety Pharmacology Society as a valued member and holds honors of Diplomat of Safety Pharmacology. He is currently involved in the SPS ECG and EEG certificate course planning groups.
With 40 published abstracts and 14 professional presentations, Dr. Kearney makes significant contributions to the scientific community.
