Senior Application Specialist (Sales)

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced individual in sales with a background in life sciences or engineering to join our sales team. The ideal candidate for this position possesses excellent technical knowledge, communications skills and drive. The candidate will be able to understand the needs of researchers specializing in cardiovascular, neurological, and medical countermeasure research, help them develop customized solutions, and communicate the value of our line of our cutting-edge research instruments.

Working as a Senior Application Specialist, you have outstanding people and organizational skills, and a desire to work in a small business environment with a focus on technology.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Establishing and maintaining customers relations in life sciences laboratories
  • Initiating contact with prospective customers
  • Presenting, demonstrating, and providing written proposals to prospective customers and following up to close sales
  • Understanding customer needs throughout and following the entire sales process
  • Participating in the complete sales cycle
  • Co-coordinating sales and support activities to ensure that clients are receiving the appropriate level of technical training and sales support.
  • Providing, installing and training on-site or via video conferences
  • Representing and promoting EMKA products at domestic and international conferences
  • Travelling across North America (50%)

You possess
  • An interdisciplinary education that combines Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related field
  • A customer focused mindset with a solid understanding of value proposition selling.
  • A desire to foster long-term relationships with customers.
  • Sales experience with scientific research equipment or related medical field. 5+ years preferred.
  • The ability to rapidly learn highly technical information in a dynamic work environment.
  • Some customer support experience
  • A talent for explaining technical details in comprehensible terms
  • The ability to work efficiently, both independently and in a team
  • Effective networking skills across disciplines and cultures
Education / Qualification Essential
  • Successful completion of a university degree in the life sciences, engineering or a related degree
  • Familiarity with the scientific research process (grant applications, conferences, publications)
  • Proficient in English (written and spoken)
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis
  • Valid driver’s license
Assets
  • Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering or preclinical Life Sciences (or equivalent experience)
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular physiology or neurophysiology
  • Prior technical sales or after-sales experience
  • Other spoken languages (French or other)

Job Type: Full-time

Work Remotely and candidates will either report to our office in Sterling, VA or to our office in Montreal, Canada when needed.

Total Compensation – Salary and Commission: $70K – $125K per year BOE (based on experience) and dependent on execution of sales plan and target
